The Artist

The oppositions work in unison in space and the idea of constant change of motion springs from the law of the universe.

Tournavitis embraces the oil colour palette that exposing to Hellenic light. He is transforming chaos into peace, disorder into order through selected orbits and points. A harmony rises on his canvas .

He is forming faces within the face, places within the place, moments within the moment. These depict the tragedy of the individual’s internal conflicts and attribute the variety of fluctuations of consciousness in order to form, to impress the morph, to shape.

The morphism of the figure has nothing to do with repulsive rebellion.His line speaks the language of a gathering of billions of years of memory. It speaks at the limits of a reality, in the world of motion.

“Μέσω τηs νόησήs μας, ερεθιζόμαστε από απτές πληροφορίες του xωροχρόνου. Αυτές πηγάζουν από τις αισθήσεις μας, και μας ωθούν να βλέπουμε πολλές διαστάσεις στο κόσμο σε μία “πάλη” πολύπλοκη. Συνθέτω αυτή τη πάλη του γίγνεσθαι, τη πάλη της δύναμης και της ροπής στο κόσμο της κίνησης. Σε μια ένωση συμφωνίας των αντιθέτων, η ζωγραφική μου αγκαλιάζει τη τραγικότητα των εσωτερικών συγκρούσεων και την ποικιλία των διακυμάνσεων της νοημοσύνης του άνθρωπου.”

⏩ Thomas Tournavitis was born in 1981 in Athens. He studied painting at the workshop of sculptor Nikos Stefos (1997-1999). He served as a Sergeant, for 2 years, in the Engineer Sect. of the Hellenic Army. He graduated in 2005 from Derby School of Fine Arts (United Kingdom) with a BA Hons in Dir.Photography. He continued with postgraduate studies at the Philharmonie School in Berlin in Semiology of Visual Culture (Germany 2006). He worked as a professor of Semiology in Colleges and as an Art-teacher in private primary Schools (2008-2010).

Since 2008 he has founded the thomastournavitis.org a successful trademark (firm) in the private sector on a global scale.

He is being the subject of 39 solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 138 group exhibitions world wide.

His works belong to more than 2400 private and public collections in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Paris, Munich, London, Dubai, Melbourne, Moscow, Montpellier, Vienna, Prague, Busan, Zurich, Bratislava, Zagreb, Nicosia, Athens, Sarajevo and more.
